Being an IHM Parent .

IHMS is a great school.  It is a Catholic school that makes great effort to cultivate and instill strong Christian values and academic excellence to each and every student.
 
My husband and I enrolled our son to IHMS in order for him to attain a strong Catholic foundation for the future, as well as be a responsible citizen who shows respect and compassion to everyone. We're glad that we did.

Sending my children to Catholic School has always been a priority of mine as a mother. A Catholic education instills the values and virtues I would like to see my children hold. In a Catholic school, the quality of education well exceeds the standards of other establishments, in my experience. Not only is my child receiving a quality education, but also an education in the faith that I believe in. 

The staff are caring and are able to provide a more intimate class setting, paying individual attention to each student as opposed to a class where the staff is overwhelmed. I am a strong believer in the quality, dignity, and integrity of the Catholic Education System and am proud to send my children to these schools.

As parents, we try to give our children the very best and often times we have to sacrifice. We believe that a Catholic education is what is best for them. There are several reasons why we send our children to a Catholic school. We wanted them to have an outstanding education that is Christ-centered, in which Christian values are instilled each day. A Catholic education teaches our children about our faith and Jesus Christ, his life, teachings, and love for all of us. Teachers here teach our children how to be respectful, honest, and kind. Our children spend most of their time in school. It is their second home. We want them to be safe and IHMS provides them with a safe environment. 

They also have amazing and loving teachers, staff, and principals who positively guide them. They offer academic subjects that will provide for them a good foundation in preparing for college. IHMS is also family-centered and involves the parents in their children's education. It is our extended family. This school will mold our children to be successful in life and to be better people. A Catholic education, especially here at IHMS, is the best gift that we, parents, can give to our children. They will cherish this their whole lives and nobody will be able to take this away from them!

A few weeks ago I was asked by one of the teachers why I chose to enroll my son at Immaculate Heart of Mary School. There are many reasons that I could think of, but a few stood out more than others. The school's emphasis on the three R's are first and foremost. My son likes to visit the library frequently and borrow books. He delights in choosing a book for the next book report and helps design its alternate book cover. Memorizing his multiplication tables is a bit daunting for an eight-year-old, but his teacher's daily math exercises make it bearable. Writing book reports helps to improve his reading comprehension. 

My son is shy and speaking in front of a group can be a frightening experience. I like the idea of having children as young as five-years-old read, "The Epistle" on Fridays and during Sunday Children's Masses. 

My family likes all of the teachers at IHMS. You can easily talk to them about your concerns and they respond with genuine care. As a token of my appreciation, I volunteer my time to the class' needs by being a room parent. I truly felt needed when my son's teacher gave me money to purchase books to replenish the class library. She liked my choices of chapter books. 

Lastly, I like this school and church for its proximity to my home, as well as its affordable tuition.
